2002 and 2003 have seen the dogs progressing well at the Field Trials.
Field Trial Champion Molly Iken
During the three seasons that Molly has been campaigned she has won two seconds in Novice, followed by three firsts and two fourths in Open stakes. She has also won the English Setter Breed Stake for best English Setter on Grouse in 2002 and four awards as best English Setter at the meet. She did not compete in the English Setter Breed Stake stake this year since she had just had her litter and no awards were made.
In 2002 Molly achieved her Field Trial Champion title by winning two consecutive Open stakes, first the English Setter breed stake at Egglestone, judged by Billy and Penny Darragh followed by the Gordon Setter Open stake at Reeth, judged by Denis Longworth. During 2002 she was also best dog on the first day of the Irish Champion Stake and awarded third place over the two days of the trial. At the Scottish Spring Trials on Grouse in 2003 she won the Scottish Gundog Association Open Stake on the Moy Estate, judged by Colin Organ and Norman Morrice.
This year she was campaigned lightly towards the end of the summer circuit in England where she won a COM and the award for Best English Setter at the Pointer Club Open stake judged by Billy Darragh and John Tibbs. She was also awarded two fourth places in two of the hottest Open stakes of the Scottish circuit. The first being the Pointer Club of Scotland Open stake at Dorbach judged by Billy Darragh and Dominic Goutorbe, where she was also given the award for the best English Setter at the meet, and the second the Scottish Field Trails Association (SFTA) Open stake at Logiealmond, judged by Richard McNicol and Heather Smith,.
Field Trial Champion Lusca Finn
During the 17 months that Finn has been campaigned he has won one Novice stake, followed by four firsts and three seconds in Open stakes as well as three awards as best Irish Setter at the meet. Finn attended his first field trial as a Novice dog in the Spring of 2002 when he was campaigned at the Scottish Spring Trials on Grouse. At the end of the week he won the Scottish Field Trails Association (SFTA) Novice stake at Corrybrough judged by Marcia Clarke and Dominic Goutorbe, which qualified him for Open. He then competed in four Open stakes at the English Spring Field Trials 2002, wining second in the Kennel Club Open stake on pheasant, judged by Mrs Towne and John Woodburn.

2003 finished on a great high when Finn won the Irish Championship, although that doesn't begin to describe the delight in winning such a prestigious event. In addition it was only the second time a woman had won it and I was the only woman competing amongst the 50 handlers, the rest of whom were all men.
Ardoon Oonagh
Oonagh was trialled for the first time as a Novice during the summer circuit 2003 and within the four week circuit qualified to compete in Open stakes. Since she was born in November she narrowly missed running in this years puppy stakes and was therefore very young for the Novice stakes. However she coped well with all the challenges of dogs, people, whistles and tricky down-wind situations to win two seconds in the Novice stakes qualifying her for Open Stakes on the next circuit.

She won second at the North of Scotland Gundog Club Novice Stake at Tillypronie judged by Brian Richardson and Declan O'Rourke. Since her father won the Open stake on the following day this was a particularly nice win. She also won second at the Scottish Field Trails Association (SFTA) Novice stake at Logiealmond, judged by Richard McNicol and Heather Smith, where her father also won a second in the Open stake on the following day.
